Advancing Thermal Energy Storage Materials: M-TES at ECCC 2026

Materials for Thermal Energy Storage were presented at ECCC 2026,  the 7th International Creep and Fracture Conference, a well-established international event dedicated to the high-temperature mechanical behaviour of materials, held in Aix-en-Provence (France) from 8 to 11 May 2026.

During the conference, Elisabetta Gariboldi (Politecnico di Milano) presented the outcomes of the joint research activities carried out by Politecnico di Milano and Otto von Guericke University, Magdeburg within the M-TES project. The contribution, entitled “Creep in Composite Phase Change Materials”, illustrated both the experimental investigation and the modelling of the macroscopic and microscopic thermomechanical behaviour of composite Phase Change Materials (PCMs), in which part of the material undergoes a solid-to-liquid phase transition during simulated service thermal cycles.

The conference provided an excellent opportunity to introduce this innovative class of materials to the international creep research community, fostering valuable scientific discussions and gathering constructive feedback to support the further development of the project research.
